Nuts and Bolts Numbers Learning Arithmetic   Order Materials

assessment_money.jpg47% of English school pupils are not competent in basic arithmetic when they leave school. Many find mathematics very difficult because they haven’t the necessary arithmetical tools. Nuts & Bolts Numbers provides the focus and structure necessary for rapid and effective learning. It includes the means of assessing attainments, setting learning objectives and attaining them relatively quickly. Learners of any age, including adults, can be said to be fluent in arithmetic when they have completed Nuts & Bolts Numbers.

Nuts & Bolts Numbers has 7 sections:

  • Number Sense
  • Adding
  • Subtracting
  • Multiplying
  • Dividing
  • Fractions
  • Decimals

Each section sets out, step-by-step and in detail, the essential skills that lead to fluency in that area. This includes practice materials (worksheets which can be re-printed or photocopied) for each step along with a specification of the standards that must be reached before moving to the next step. The steps have been carefully chosen to allow overlaps and connections between Core Areas so as continually to re-enforce learning. Nuts & Bolts Numbers can be used as a complete curriculum, or particular parts can be used to address specific weaknesses.
